This digital infrared image was made at the National Trust's Newhailes Estate near Musselburgh in Scotland. These trees are part of a group of nine on the estate which are set apart from the rest and I am finding them fascinating subjects to photograph. Over the last couple of months I have been making a study of these nine trees as they change from winter to spring and plan to continue this throughout the year.

This is a digital infrared image made using a Hoya R72 IR filter. The false colour was added by using the free Earthbound Light plug-in for Adobe Elements.

Image made using a Canon Powershot A640 compact digital camera mounted on a tripod. The camera was fitted with a Hoya R72 IR filter. A custom white balance was used - calibrated to a patch of grass in full sunshine.

This image was made at the National Trust Newhailes Estate near Musselburgh in Scotland.

The photograph was taken using a Canon Powershot A640 compact digital camera mounted on a tripod. The camera was fitted with a Hoya R72 IR filter. The exposure time was 6 seconds at f8 (it was a very still day!). A custom white balance was used - I calibrated this using a patch of green grass in full sunshine.
