This image was made using a Canon Powershot A640 compact digital camera fitted with a Hoya IR filter. The image was then processed using the Earthbound Light plugin in Abobe Elements to channel mix the colours giving the false colour effect.

Studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, completing a four year degree course in Fine Art in the department of Drawing and Painting in 1986. During the foundation year at Art College I was introduced to 35mm film photography and given the opportunity to learn developing and printing techniques. I really enjoyed these classes and was lucky enough to be taught by Joseph McKenzie, regarded by many as the ‘Father of Modern Scottish Photography’. I have continued to be interested in photography ever since - and now enjoy exploring the creativity possible using digital techniques. Photography has renewed my wonder in the detail found in nature - it always challenges your preconceptions and constantly surprises you with its beauty.
